#02 : Lynette Teo, 17

What made you want to go for this year's Cebu trip?

Since a few years back when I first heard about the Cebu mission trip, I have always wanted to go to see how the kids in Cebu lived. Most importantly, I wanted to play a part in helping these kids know about how true God’s love is. Finally, I’m 17 and I can go!! Therefore, when presented with the opportunity I literally ‘grabbed’ it! This is kind of like a once in a lifetime opportunity (though I hope it’s not), not to be missed =)

What are you most excited about?

I can’t wait to see God touch the lives of the Cebu people during the symposiums. Also, I really want to see how this trip will help me grow spiritually in the Lord, as I put aside my hectic Singapore schedule to just focus on the work on God in people’s life. In addition, this trip will be a whole new experience for me, so yep, I can’t wait to see how it turns out!!

What are you most afraid about?

Bugs I guess.. hmm, and also that I might not be able to take the smell of the street kids, but I’m sure God will give me strength!!

Hey all,

Thank you for your support in the Rummage Sale! We managed to make a sizeable amount (I'll have to check if i can put it up here), so thanks! The lessons learnt and experiences gained were valuable, and i'm sure they will go a long way to help the next team!

So next up, is the Car Wash - hopefully i'll be able to get more details up here.

By the way, i forgot to mention - hope everyone will also donate to the Myanmar and China victims. I think Pastor might be organising something soon, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for announcements!

Bio #01

The first in a series of getting-to-know the Cebu Team!

#01 : Euvin Aw, 17
What made you want to go for this year's Cebu trip?

I have always had the passion to help those who are not as blessed as I am. However, being a student, the amount of financial assistance I could offer was limited by my income. So when given the opportunity to be part of this year’s Youth Missions Team and go to Cebu, I took it immediately. It was also an opportunity to bless the people at Teen Challenge physically and spiritually.

What are you most excited about?

I have no doubt that this trip will bless me tremendously. Having heard stories and experiences from the previous teams, I finally get to experience it for myself! I am also told that we will be going to the Northern part of the island, unlike the previous trips. I am going to be a pioneer! It is really exciting and I am looking forward to opening my heart and mind to be touched by God and also the kids, as well as learning and living in a whole new cultural environment for 10 days.

What are you most afraid about?

Lizards, and... waking up.

Sneak Peek!

Ok lads - we had our first sieve through the sale items today. There's still more stuff coming in, but i promise you that if you search there are things that you might find useful!

There's lots of clothes, some have got the retro look (i was eyeing in particular a certain brown striped vest - but it's for ladies, so a bit too small). The clothes will be pretty cheap! Some stuff have already been snapped up even - a brand new saucepan for eggs, a computer table, and an adidas (yes, adidas) shirt!

I've also heard rumours that Mr. Chang will be selling his Xbox (not 360) and games ;) Plus i will be adding my old mp3 player, and some clothes (some branded) that aren't quite my size post-ns. Some haven't even been worn!

Anyway, before i get lost, here's the sneak preview:
1. UNUSED TEFAL Steam Cuisine 900 Turbo Diffusion (Steam Cooker i guess)
2. NEW VISIONS microwaveable glass pots (if ps Daph doesn't snap them up!)
3. Comfort Massager
Lots of Ornaments, Soft Toys, and some bags and other bits and pieces as well! Oh and not to forget some Christian books too! Evergreen ;)

So do set aside some time to come visit the sale! And come HUNGRY!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hope you guys enjoyed the gifts! I myself thought that the flowers were professionally done - and at such competitive prices (i think we didn't really manage to make much profits on them, but oh well, it's for the MUMS!)! Kudos to Alison, Karen Poh, Cheryl Tan and Aunty Soh Har, who sacrificed their Saturday to help prepare and wrap the roses :)

Seems that everyone can't seem to get enough of the Cheesemuffins.
Well, Susanne and her mum are going on overdrive baking, so expect to see more in the coming weeks - do continue to support us!

The profit raised so far is about $500.
Although it is no small sum, its not a lot compared to the cost of the flights. We have booked tickets for Silkair (which for some reason cost nearly the same or less than the Cebu Budget flight), and $500 will probably be enough to cover just about one person.

So do come and support us at the Rummage Sale this Saturday!
We will try to put up what is on sale, but for now there's been clothes, ornaments, books and the like! So something for everyone - don't forget the food and games as well :)

A Greater Cause

Dear all,

Hope that you would also do your part in helping the Myanmar victims. You may want to approach the Red Cross to donate cash!

I was wondering if any of our Rummage Sale stuff could also be donated, but that'll have to wait and see. Till then, keep Myanmar in prayer!

UPDATE #2

Dear All,

Thank you so much for showing us your support last Sunday! I certainly didn't quite expect the Cheesemuffins to disappear that quickly! Apologies to those whom we didn't manage to sell to, hope that you guys have placed your orders!

The Rummage Sale Collections have also been pretty much a success. We will probably only be able to sort out and price the items next week once the play is over :) Look here for sneak previews! Already one computer table has been reserved, so don't think that there's only cheapo stuff! So do come and drop off your stuff this Sunday (11th May) at the booth in the carpark! If there's no one there, just leave it at the table :)

mini UPDATE # 1.01

I was trawling the net for anything that might be of use for my devotion material, and i came across this slightly uncomfortable, but honest article on youth missions. Do take a look!

Anyway, signed up with Bravenet.com, so hopefully the mailing list will be running fine, and a calendar will pop up sooner or later!

In the meantime, do spread the word about the muffins, we will be selling some this weekend, in addition to the Mother's Day orders!

UPDATE #1

Dear all, some updates! I do sincerely apologise for the lack of updates thus far, as I have been bogged down with quite a few things as of late! Do continue to look here though, and spread the word!

1. Price Revision
There has been some murmurings about the prices of our beloved muffins. Well, we have heard, and redirected our strategy so EVERYONE can enjoy the cheesemuffins at reasonable prices! Seems that deflation is the way to go nowadays!
So, the new prices are:

3 for $5
8 for $10

For those who have already paid, fear not! We will make your orders special - an extra muffin if you ordered 3, 2 if you ordered 8! If you work that out, the top-up of the muffins gives you more bang-for-your buck! As a little token of our appreciation of your support ;) and at the risk of sounding like a Ben & Jerry's salesman.


2. Rummage Sale Collection
This Saturday is our very first Rummage Sale Collection!
I've uploaded the schedule again in case (and just realised a tiny error - see location, in bold italics), for some reason there's a big gap here:
